Marcia Mahoney came to photography from careers of a trial lawyer and community librarian. She makes pictures that tell the stories she sees – her own, and those she found as a lawyer, librarian and reader.
Throughout 2017, Portland, Oregon’s Blue Sky Gallery will include Marcia’s Infinite Pleasure portfolio in its Pacific Northwest Viewing Drawers. In addition, Marcia will exhibit in shows across the United States, including ASmith Gallery in Texas, PhotoPlace Gallery in Vermont; Black Box Gallery in Portland, Oregon; and the Southeast Center of Photograph in Greenville, South Carolina, to name a few. Her photograph, "Final Act, won first place in the "people" category and Best in Show in the 2016 Images of Illinois contest.
Mahoney is a member of f8collective, and serves as Treasurer of Chicago's Filter Photo. In addition to working on her own projects, Marcia is a production assistant and stylist for a Chicago-based fashion and editorial photographer. Marcia lives in Chicago, Illinois and Sandpoint, Idaho.
